Broomhill swimming baths 18:25 - Dec 20 with 2876 views | Colin_Viljoen | Looks like Broomhill has secured lottery funds to modernise & re-open. Who spent their summer holidays up there & what are your memories?
Broomhill swimming baths on 18:47 - Dec 20 with 2847 views | ITFC_Forever | Yep... Being from the Henley Rise area of town, it was pretty close by, so we would bike down there and spend the day there for the whole summer.... seem to remember doi that for most summers in the late 80s / early 90s. And for the princely sum of £8, you could buy an Easy Rider which gave you unlimited bus travel after 9am, entry to Broom Hill, entry to Bourne Park and Chantry Park pitch & putts and selected activities at any one of the four sports centres in the borough. An absolute bargain, I must have racked up £100 at least worth of value each summer. One other thing, the photo the Star uses in their stories of a kid jumping off the top board pees me off as they’ve reversed it for no reason. The sun terrace should be on the right as you look from the boards, and the seating area should be on the left.

Broomhill swimming baths on 00:00 - Dec 21 with 2627 views | Colin_Viljoen | I used to get the bus from Claydon for the afternoon session, I would race to change & try to be first in the pool, as the water was clear & looked inviting. You needed to be brave to run & jump off that top board, I think that board was shut in the later years? | | | | Login to get fewer ads
