For those mad enough to be heading up to Preston tomorrow, the Highways Agency have warned that the M6 will be even worse than usual. It is down to one lane Jcn 6 (Spaghetti Jcn) to Jcn 8 (Walsall). Alternative routes are M6 Toll or A1 / M62.

From Stoke on up for about 20 miles past Knutsford services, there's a 50mph limit (or there was a couple of months ago).

Still is around 20 miles of 50mph from Stoke up to just south of Manchester. Total ballache. I'm going A1 / M62, and braving the perennial north Manchester roadworks instead
