Taking the ball on the half turn is one thing, but keeping possession and making good use of the ball is another.

It's frustrating as there does seem to be talent there, but he should be able to make an impact in L1.

All of Dozzell's issues could be summed up in that one performance at Accrington.

After 3 minutes he played a no look pass, I think to Judge. He looked towards the strikers and played the ball to his right completely fooling the defender.

For the rest of the match he continued to try and do this, including eye of the needle passes across midfield. Because he wasn't looking he gave the ball away. On occasions he played a no look pass that went out of play because he wasn't looking, when there wasn't an opponent within 10 yards to fool!

On top of this he didn't put a challenge in, was constantly out of position and didn't get involved in the game at all, aside from the odd elaborate pass attempt. It was bizarre. Once I noticed it I couldn't not notice it was every other pass.

Part of me wonders if half the reason he looks so good on occasion is simply because the first time he's tried a ridiculous pass it has come off, making him look like Iniesta. In the games where it is easily cut out he then looks woeful.

I'm not at all convinced there is a player there. He lacks 80% of what he needs to make it and the one thing he does have is vision to spot a pass which he often cannot execute.

This is such a baffling opinion to hold, and also it's his vision and execution of a pass that is on another level to anyone else in the squad, not just his vision.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not writing him off but he has done very little to convince me so far. I'll happily admit poor judgement on my part if he ever comes good, but I'm of the opinion at the moment that most teams even in this division have a player who can create just as much as he allegedly can, and we have just been so bereft of creativity in the last few seasons that people are getting more excited about him than they should be.

It's all very well taking the ball off the defenders, but if you don't go on to do anything with it then you might as well not bother. I'm just as excited as anyone to see a player in the Town team who likes to pass the ball forward on the ground, and I hope he comes good, I really do, but I remain unconvinced.

I think the most likely outcome is that he does move on eventually and then comes good at another team, as we haven't been very good in the last few years and nurturing creative players, and I do think he'll be one that goes on to haunt us. Maybe that is just me being pessimistic as a Town fan based on our transfer dealings in the last few years. I agree that he has potential, but I'm not sure he'll realise it with us, and he will continue to divide opinion until the day he leaves.

Personally, I feel if his name wasn't Dozzell then he would have been dismissed by the majority of the support long ago, but I'm sure no one would admit to that
