We knock the standard of our U23 football? 04:26 - Jan 22 with 1058 viewsharlingblue

How can we get our U23 team uprated? Is it winning our league, or just the state of the playing area etc?
Young players are sent out on loan to get game time experience to the detriment of an U23 team also trying to gel into a future team, our U23 Managers have a huge task and are the real hob of the Club?
A couple of questions to real ITFC supporters.

Realistically it's impossible, unless all teams take it more seriously which won't happen.

People bang on about combination league, but the difference then was clubs used to have 1 or 2 subs, so if the 1st team were away one day 13 players would travel, and then the reserves would pick a team from player 14 downwards - now with 7 subs there are 20-21 in a travelling party - so those who would have played down are needed.

If we got a Cat 1 academy we'd have a better games programme but still the same issues as still playing underage football.

Realistically you need a B team in the lower leagues if you want them playing competitive games, but not sure how that would work - I'm surprised big teams haven't put B teams at bottom of the pyramid to work themselves up to a natural level.

Lots of players currently out on loan, some at quite low levels - must be 8 or 9 at least and this seems to be a policy we are going with

Why do you think that the National League does not seem to be the destination for even some of our older/brighter prospects - Mc Gavin for instance, at least till recently, or Morris?

Old school managers like Mick / Lambert bang on about men's football and games that mean something - a precise description of what the National League Conference could offer if some were given a strong half-season or more there.

Prime example is the Leasing.com trophy

Premiership teams have their youth teams playing in these games and the majority are beaten by L1 and L2 teams.

Poll: Mick in or out? (not a dig at Mick just want to see the overall opinion on here)

We are as close to a Cat 1 academy as we are the Premier League in reality
