Seems like PL has lost the fans on 18:48 - Feb 16 by Crawfordsboot | Couldn’t agree more. The whining wazzocks are driving me to despair after supporting town for over sixty years. As for PLs response to Phil’s questioning I thought it not unreasonable. He called Phil out on his first statement about finances and Phil had no answer. Club finances are not a simple matter. Weekly wage bills are simplistic. Into the mix has to go transfer and loan fees to get to a total net spend so I am not surprised that Phil couldn’t respond on that one. Other matters come down to opinion and we are where we are. We are not the team I remember from the 70s. There is no entitlement in football though some of our “fans” seem to think otherwise |
I match your 60 yrs and think that there were many times, when, if the Internet had been available and, alongside it, the general societal anger and angst to which it seems to contribute, much more historic whingeing would have emerged e.g. in the times of Milburn and Duncan. What sort of answer would Phil have been expected to produce? If he had waved a statement of accounts in the air I don't think P.L. would have been in the mood to go through it with him. You thought that response "not unreasonable"? It was just that sort of gut-growling self-defence that contrived to alienate Mick for when the lean times really arrived. If a press conference is really just for airing the fitness of the squad and massaging a manager's ego, what's the point? Should it not sometimes be a place to voice what many in the town are thinking, | |
