The price of Detol on Ebay. 07:33 - Mar 19 with 1567 viewsMercian

I very rarely express anger online but what I see takes the biscuit. These 21st century spivs are selling 3 cans of Dettol spray for £75, a 75ml bottle of Dettol liquid for £20 and it goes on. These people bought up the stocks and are now profiteering on the nations misery. What a bunch of A-holes.

You see, if no one buys it, they can charge what they like.

Did you see that American guy who bought all the hand sanitiser and then couldn't sell it? That was pretty funny.

Also you can buy off brand Dettol in the shops... just a few days ago my partner picked up some in Savers, even though the Dettol was sold out.

Anti bac washing up liquid is another which some have not noted (yet)

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

I'm a business seller on ebay and a few weeks ago got the following message from them.

Dear seller,

Considering the global developments associated with Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and our dedication to delivering a safe and trusted marketplace, we would like to remind you of eBay’s Listing Policies:

Health claims and misuse of keywords: titles and item descriptions containing health claims and misusing terms such as "Coronavirus", "Covid-19", ‘Virus”, "epidemic" are prohibited.
Prices inflated over prevailing market value: listings that attempt to profit from tragedies and disasters (such as the Coronavirus outbreak) are prohibited.
Laws and Regulations: we recognise this is a fast changing situation. We advise sellers to always check local laws and regulations when listing. We will continue to monitor the situation globally and provide further updates as necessary.
eBay requests that all sellers who have live listings offering items such as face masks, hand sanitizer gel or wipes, etc., review their listings and make sure that they comply with eBay Listing policies.

Activity that doesn't follow eBay Listing policies could result in a range of actions, such as eBay ending or cancelling your relevant listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering your seller rating, enforcing buying or selling restrictions, or suspending your account.

To learn more about the policies and make sure your listings are compliant, we invite you to read our three most relevant policies on this topic: Prescription and over-the-counter drugs policy, Disaster and Tragedy policy, Search manipulation policy.

Best regards,

The eBay team

They are failing to stop people profiteering, mostly private sellers it has to be said, on their site atm that's for certain.

I would trust Savers (or Lidl or Aldi or even Home Bargains) a whole lot more to offer up some decent non-Brand cleaning products than I would trust eBay or Amazon.

Agreed.
I noticed this today, £51 being bid for 12 packs of loo roll with £15 postage!

While this virus is currently beyond our control, we do have control over how we respond to it. I'm sure it will bring out the best in most people but sadly there will always be some bad eggs in which it will bring out the worst.

Quite.

The 50p stuff in those places is the same liquid without the branding.

I know Poundstretchers sell one, maybe B&M, and I think you may be right about the Home Bargains too.
