The evidence of internal sabotage and sitting on antisemitism complaints seems to have enraged many of the members and campaigners who are the de facto Labour Party nowadays. And quite rightly too - they and the people in society who Labour are most keen to represent have been shamefully sold out.
I'm supportive of Starmer and Rayner as they try to focus on the bigger issue of defeaing the Tory government and shifting public policy to a more equitable and sustainable place. But it's now important that they come down hard on these people and treat them like any other member or official who was guilty of enabling antisemitism. And the Labour right and their allies in the media and elsewhere need to suck it up and show that they have standards.

Also I wonder how it's going for Panorama hatchetman John Ware and his libel case suing Labour? I guess Labour's position that the documentary was an inaccurate and one-sided portrayal will be pretty hard to find against ... considering the primary source information here goes completely against the same people's "testimony"?
At a time when our government is crap and our media is awfully embedded in the same colonic loop, it's frightening to realise that we weren't even allowed to have an opposition. Someone said that the last trench of the Establishment and the status quo runs through the right-wing of the Labour Party. I should have guessed it from seeing how all this has been discussed in the media and on here even among supposed left-leaning people but now it's confirmed in all its gory detail.

There is antisemitism in Labour, of course. As I've pointed out many times when I've mentioned the research data or criticized antisemitic remarks.
But, undeniably, there is also weaponisation of it for narrow political ends. The two can exist at the same time.
It shows the weakness of your argument that you can't address that. But always have to pretend I'm in denial about the first point.
Hope Not Hate first needs to explain why it took random and OTT accusations at face value for so long. Maybe then they'll stop playing a similar game of accusing everybody who disagrees with their exaggerated take of being in denial.
So many actors, you included, are massively compromised because you didn't listen or look at the evidence. And I suspect that's because it wasn't about anti-racism at all. Guilt by accusation and trying to push it up to the Labour leadership was the goal all along. | |
