Madness of finances in EFL on 16:43 - Apr 28 with 477 views | Chutney | The average salaries of the players is actually pretty low considering it's the average of each clubs highest earner, as stated in the small print. £4,750 p/w in L1 the average highest earner, I would wager ours is on double that. The mean average of all players therefore is probably closer to 50% of that. Clearly Premier League money and Championship money is ludicrous, but there are a lot of L1 players on £50k - £100k a year. Good money, no doubt, but not silly. The non playing staff averages are also there or thereabouts. There will be some outliers skewing the Championship numbers, eg. the £282k fitness coach which is madness, but the averages are all pretty much what I would expect. £25k for a kit man in L1, working weekends and travelling away etc. I don't know why people are surprised? Madness of finances in EFL on 16:27 - Apr 28 by ArnieM | “ not sure what people expect “? Really?? How about a living wage that sits in the middle strata of the average man in the street, like it used to be. Is that really too much to ask for? Modern footballers live a life style that is so ridiculously detached from everyday life . They believe they are something “ special “ because of their income levels. There is an arrogance and attitude that goes with too which is none too pleasant to swallow. They ALL need bringing down off their ivory pedestals and to stop expecting society owes them something just because they can kick a bloody ball . (I could name and shame a certain current “ idol “ for his arrogant, attitude towards the NHS right now , but this would clearly get someone into a lot of trouble locally . Suffice to say this player has greatly gone down in my estimation but his attitude to a certain recent situation for me personally just underlines the outlook many so called “ stars” in the game appear to have.) Players have more money than they know what to do with and other than an ability to kick a ball have little between the ears . They are supposed to be role models to youngsters , yet time and again they fall short. A damming statement by me I know , and one that will undoubtedly upset a few on here . I love the game and have watched and followed it for years, but it doesn’t mean I have to like some of the individuals that pull the shirt on , for either ITFC it many other Clubs . |
Ever tried writing for a tabloid? You certainly have the style and generalisation to do a good job for them.

I wonder have the wheels come off as some senior players are resentful of his new large contract extension when they suffered rather large salary cuts? That salary if correct would most likely make him the highest paid in the dressing room. Some have suggested he might have lost the dressing room and his new contract could be the reason.

But the Championsip is in a perilous state, and has been for some time - that is where things will have to change long term which will filter down into L1 and L2 which are in ok health in reality (or those clubs with sensible owners are) |
Over £50k for a kit man & nearly £200k for a physio - really? West Ham used to have a few "player liaison officers" who were paid over £50k a year and their job was to drive the overseas signings around as a sort of glorified taxi driver.
