Disappointed Thread 22:11 - Jun 21 with 3281 views | PhilTWTD | Think that lengthy thread has talked itself out now - and been locked - and thought it might be worth drawing some conclusions from it going forward. One theme which came out of it was tolerance towards other posters and I certainly think the forum could do with greater civility at times, and certainly less name-calling. However, it's worth noting that the OP was picked up on repeating the 'all lives matter' slur in a BLM thread, which I think was absolutely right. Same with those challenging some of the comments in the McGoldrick story (I've removed the worst of them). I wouldn't want to run a site where that sort of thing wasn't challenged or reported. As a couple of people posted, being tolerant doesn't extend to being accepting of intolerance. I'm sure others have their own thoughts about it.

Disappointed Thread on 23:42 - Jun 21 by PhilTWTD | I don't think it's entirely unfair for posters to read what a thread is about before commenting on it. |
The thread is about the op surely. If i reply directly to the op in thread view i'm commenting directly on that post. I don't read every single sub-thread that may or may not contain a link to another thread somewhere else. I think it's absurd to expect anyone to do that especially on a massive thread. Moreover, out of courtesy, I have gone back to the other thread when requested, not before being told I am complicit in racism, and also not being told for a long time by others where this other thread actually was before someone actually engaged with me (Libero) and let me know where it was, where i then spelt out my views on it to avoid any confusion that i was supporting the op's previous views and not the view solely expressed here. I then i get snide comments that i just received on this thread, which presume you would prefer to see less of. [Post edited 21 Jun 2020 23:51]

I think we should leave this now. It's late, Phil probably doesn't need this.

I see your point to some degree, but in that case the OP was about the response to his comments in another thread, so think it's difficult to comment without having seen what it was about. Equally, other posters should have pointed you in its direction if you asked and no need for the snide posts.

Thank you, that's fair. And do you really in all truth believe this is not baiting other posters? Disappointed Thread by SpruceMoose 21 Jun 2020 23:49I'll repeat this for those who need to take it on board.

Trying to remind people that it's late, Phil works hard dealing with this nonsense and he's probably had enough for one day. It really didn't need him stirring it up again. Nothing more than that. I'm sorry if you took it in some other way, as it certainly wasn't aimed at you. [Post edited 22 Jun 2020 0:11]

I don't think he needs a self-appointed mod, we are debating it as adults fine as we are thank you.

Not a self appointed mod at all (sadly!). I'm just noting my appreciation of what Phil does and encouraging others to do likewise. No need for any hostility.
