Just had a bowl of soup. 19:07 - Sep 22 with 2693 viewsIpswichBoyBlue

I haven't had a bowl of soup for years, but couldn't be assed to cook tonight, so we just had soup. Totally underrated in our household, but not from now on. Loved it. Chicken and veg with wholemeal bread on the side. Delightful.

I can pretend I am if you want?

Cheese and fruit is fine. It's the having it with tomato soup which I can't get my head around.

As far as food atrocities go it's not the worst.

I would opt for a more rustic granary chunk of a cob or similar myself. With lots of black pepper and a good dollop of unsalted butter.

I'm never going to be skinny again. B*gger.

Made a lovely home made soup slow roasted tomato soup with tomatoes from the greenhouse served with vintage cheddar on toasted fruit sourdough bread (Tescos). Delicious!

Possibly the most vivid memory of my life is getting home from school one day, going down to the greenhouse in our garden where Mum (R.I.P.) was usually to be found, her letting me pick a just ripened tomato from the ones she was growing in there, biting into it and the sun-warmed tangy-sweet juice bursting in my mouth, while the scent of it just added to the sensory bliss.

My 'madeleine moment' - "essence of the past".

My little grandchildren do exactly the same thing and always head to the greenhouse on their visits.

I reckon I eat tomatoes almost every day - love them!
