Why dont they pause the season for 3 Weeks over Xmas 12:52 - Dec 21 with 1037 views | MunichBlue | I know the old arguments of a winter break have been going on for years and years but in light of all the teams that have players and staff with Corona wouldn't it make sense to have a 3 week winter / Corona break this year? If we started today that would mean 4 matches. Since we are more than likely going to have to miss 2 anyway why not just make the pause and have everyone self quarantine for those 3 weeks?

Why dont they pause the season for 3 Weeks over Xmas on 13:02 - Dec 21 with 983 views | Nthsuffolkblue | The season is being paused for those that have to. To pause it for those that don't is only going to mean even fewer matches are played. However, it is not going to be long before a team that has already called off 3 games will have to call off 3 more and there are going to be some teams with an impossible fixture pile up.

Just checked and we've still got 11 empty Tuesdays between now and the end of the Season, so there's still plenty of scope to pile up fixtures for the moment.

3 of those are in January and 3 in February so, if we don't start rearranging fixtures before the end of February, there will only be 5. Some clubs have up to 2 matches in hand on us too. If every 10 day isolation period leads to the loss of 2 or 3 matches, you only have to factor in a couple of matches lost to bad weather or other unexpected circumstances and those dates are soon filled. I am not sure many clubs would accept playing Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or similar in order to get the season done.

So, probably space for 3 more isolation periods. Plus you could make another 2 game days by extending the season by a week. We can't have had more than 1 or 2 games cancelled due to weather or anything else in the last decade, surely?

So we have a backlog of games that would have been played during the break and a backlog of games postponed for covid. We need as much time as possible to play.
