Nobody asked for Lambert to be manager. He wasn’t a name on anyone’s radar when appointed.

But a lot of people let him get away with smoke and mirrors and flattering to deceive for far, far too long. Even as late as the start of the season people were saying 'well, he deserves a chance' when all he'd delivered was failure upon failure.
