Given ME’s experience with manager contracts and payouts prior to Lambert, it would be inconceivable to think that there aren’t performance related clauses in PLs contract. Given our current position and the woeful stats accumulated week-on-week, you have to wonder if there’s actually been a massive oversight - one of them must have been triggered now surely ie :
- outside of the top 6 - middle table almost bottom half - run of “X” Home league defeats - total number of defeats in a season - points adrift of automatic promotion - failure to beat sides above
The list goes on...
Does anyone know of any clauses that were written into previous manager contracts?
The concern is the break that Phil mentioned at the end of the season means he needs to stay in a job until then for it to be valid. If it is a break option not related to performance he can go now and just be paid until then. If it is related to performance then he presumably has to stay in the job until then to make it valid
