5 players on our books were Hurst signings and one of them had a bid on the table last month and we chose not to sell. EDIT: and one of those was our best player for the first couple of months of the season.

And one of the others of those 5 is out on loan in a side in the same division that have conceded 2 goals in the 5 games he has played as their right back. |  |

One of the big headaches for the new manager is how ridiculously bloated our squad and how he will reasonably trim it down. There are going to be a lot of players leave the club next summer (unless the new manager is equally as inept as the current one). | |

As matey says, he has taken 2 odd years to put together a bloated squad.
If he could attract a better, trimmed down squad for the same money, maybe we would be better.
Or even decide on how to coach these players and give them clear indications what he expects them to do to win games.

I don't think the squad is as good as some believe.
We finished dead last in the Championship, got our pants pulled down by Millwall for Bart, haven't added much quality since, and our homegrown players are woefully inexperienced.
Bishop has played in a total of 113 games for us since 2014. Dozzell has played in a total of 72 games for us since 2015.
They are both talented but they often play like novices because they pretty much are.
Judge, Freddie, Chambers and Ward are not the players that they once were.
Woolfy has got a lot of work to do, the other centre backs have even more.
Downes is our best player but needs to sort his mental game out, he always looks on the brink of a sending off.
Honestly at the start of the season I thought we'd be lucky to finish mid-table with the squad we've got and as thing stands that doesn't look unreasonable.
Having said that, they are not being utilised properly in a lot of cases, but even so, I really don't agree that they are one of the best squads in the league because they are a hotchpotch of managers' ideas.
McCarthy, Hurst and Lambert players shoved together awkwardly.
Personally think there are some bright spots but there is an awful lot of useless clutter around it. |  | | |

The reason we manage to beat the lesser teams but can’t beat the better teams is exactly because our squad is good enough - too good for the teams at the wrong end of the table, but not organised or tactically set up properly to beat the teams at the top of the table. The problem is not the squad, it’s the manager. | | | |
