One for Newcy - this guy should buy a lottery ticket asap on 09:27 - Feb 25 with 474 views | NewcyBlue | A few weeks ago there was 2 instances of losing an Ordinary Seaman overboard in our Fleet. Neither were found. Both were about 24 years old, first time in the company, and had been on board their ships for around 2.5 months. One was definitely an accident. Most likely went through the propeller. Happened in the River transit to Bremerhaven. The other OS went missing somewhere between Horsburgh LtHouse and Hong Kong. No information is known about that case. After a search and rescue, it was determined that the body would not be recovered, so the SAR was called off and all ships continued their respective voyage. I think it’s probably time that Personal Locator Beacons became mandatory in our industry.

I make you right on the beacons. A reminder, if anyone needed it, of the dangers of your profession. Stay safe.
