Haven't got LinkedIn on my phone, so unsure how the message layout looks. His reply to me that he can't comment seems a more plausible response than the OP photo. I've mainly read about the Arizona United/Phoenix Rising and FC Helsingor projects. Both of those clubs, albeit in vastly different situations to the English game, seem to have made big strides forward since the consortium got involved.

It's a completely different mindset and approach. In US sports it is possible to be a professional Sports Club owner, run it as a business, be successful on the pitch, galvanise a community and make a profit. And you need to do all of those things to make a profit. So if he can be professional, run ITFC as a business, be successful on the pitch and galvanise the community, would you be bothered if he made a profit? Some British businesspeople buy into football clubs because they are from the community and want to give something back (think Dave Whelan at Wigan, or thousands of local businesspeople involved in lower and non-League clubs). That is benevolent, but when they die or are skint, what happens then? Others think they can find a margin and make some money (think Mike Ashley). Others spot assets that they can strip. Johnson's model is completely different from all of these. He uses sports clubs as the crown jewel in the revitalisation of economically depressed areas. That's how he makes the business side work. He will want to bring a lot of investment to Ipswich town as well as Ipswich Town, to rebuild Fortress Portman Road by redeveloping Portman Road car park. The aim is to create a virtuous circle: bring a buzz to the Club that attracts people to the area around the Club. Then when you have people in the area around the club the attached businesses thrive. More people are attracted. The buzz grows. It appeals to Americans, because they, at heart are optimists. We might think that Brits are cynical and we'll take the pish. But he has lived here. He's not entirely ignorant of our culture. And, crucially, his approach may well appeal to a younger demographic, which is the only way to secure the Club's long term future.

I have never had an issue with him making profit. Just curious as to what the business model is and how it may be funded. UK football is a much tougher market than he has previously experienced.

I believe once they steady the ship a large focus will be all about the youth academy which they will want to push young American talent through. Any major focus towards our youth and future would surely be welcomed.

Yep, like I say, it's all speculation and assumptions at the moment though. None of us know the true narrative. I'm not against the takeover, I just can't get excited without knowing more info.

I can see from previous posts that you are not against the possible take over. I think anybody who actually cares about a club and a possible take over arises will have a small element of what will the future hold? Will we be left high and dry at the end of this? Will we be a success. Had Marcus have listened to the right people a take over would not even be required to move us forward. At present with all you read most of us are guilty of putting two and two together and coming up with five. I am sure we will know some facts and outplayed soon, well I for sure hope so.
