I guess Cook now sees why we've been more direct in recent games 19:53 - Mar 9 with 1076 viewsSteve_M

Too slow on the ball, Norwood isolated and very little attacking threat for much to that half. A bit better towards the end - Toto should have done better with that header - but deservedly behind to a good Lincoln side.

I'm fed up of seeing Holy not react to shots like that, happen far too often. Maybe he wouldn't have saved it but he doesn't even see the ball. Even allowing for it being the third division it's not good enough.

Lankester has struggled all season, can't get into the game at all. The ability is clearly there but we're carrying him at the moment.

I like Lincoln though, well organised and very quick on the break. Appleton has done a superb job there without spending a lot of money.

Hmm..Holy isn't the issue. Lincoln were well on top & that shows how abysmally Town have been managed. We were consciously trying to move the ball more quickly, but Cook has a huge job.

They are a classy side, very easy on the eye and the wingers with back ups running in behind are causing us huge issues.

But Holy is an issue. He's probably too tall...his reactions are way off.

I forgot Lankester was playing. Suspect he’ll be coming off very shortly. And agree on Holy, he fails to convince be it kicking, positioning or shot saving.

Lankester seemed an odd pick. Maybe he's been on fire in training.

It was mentioned on the KOA that this Lincoln side is exactly the sort of thing Paul Cook would want to emulate here. Lots of strong partnerships over the pitch, good movement of the ball with lots of technically sound players, very well organised off it from a defensive point of view.

Was working ok for the first 10 or so when we really had to score or this was likely to happen. We had players getting around Norwood and he looked part of an attacking unit more than being a bit stranded as he was for the rest of the half (though he's been a bit wasteful with some of his touches and was needlessly caught offside a couple of times).

Agree on Holy - I really don't think that shot was as close to the corner as some initially said, certainly on the reply it looked to go more central, though did have a bit of swerve behind it. He often shows the weaknesses you'd expect of a 6ft9 'keeper whilst rarely showing the expected strengths.

We're increasingly looking vulnerable to their overlap and Nsiala has rushed out to challenge Hopper a few times which I'm worried is going to end badly. Wouldn't be surprised to see Judge for Lankester soon - not sure it'd be a huge help to the overlap problem but he'd get himself involved and would hopefully get Bishop on the ball more who has looked very bright when he's had it.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

A bit strange after all that that Lincoln sat back so much, they only have themselves to blame for not winning that really.

Subs helped us, added a bit of urgency even if none of the three played very well. Definitely a good point tonight.

Yep, their own fault for that - far too negative.

For all we still looked slow and nervous which leads to a lack of chance creation, it shouldn’t go unnoticed that our set-pieces have improved a lot recently and are starting to look like a decent weapon.

Good to get that one out the way anyway - most of the remaining fixtures look reasonably favourable.

Indeed. Five in the last three matches which we just weren't doing a couple off months ago. I wonder if that was down to Gill as it obviously pre-dates Cook.

I’m pretty sure I heard Watson say he was under the impression Gill had put more work into them at training than the team had been doing before.

Which, if true, is another damning indictment of Lambert. And also encouraging for reminding us of the benefits of good, coherent coaching.

Just looked at the table and we're really well placed now. We won't be playing too many sides as good as Lincoln either.

Don’t think we’ll be playing a team that plays quite like Gillingham either in terms of physicality now either.

Cook comes with a reputation for good coaching, improving players etc. but as discussed he’s rather hamstrung by the lack of time he’s got to drill his ideas into the players.
