Leaving aside today’s game, who do we want in the first round? I hoped one of the minor positives of being in this league would be a cup match against a tinpot club in the first round but we haven’t had that yet. As well as Sudbury, there are some very small clubs in the hat. Bowers and Pitsea, Horsham and Banbury are safely through, with Pontefract Collieries and Corinthian Casuals taking part in replays. If ourselves, Sunderland, Sheff Wednesday or Portsmouth get one of these clubs surely it will be the telly game?

I’m sure we’ll get something boring like Gillingham at home.

Sadly, the 1st & 2nd rounds stopped being regionalised some years ago. A poor decision IMO as it vastly reduces the likelihood of interesting little local derbies and created some huge trips for little reward. Ipswich Town v Sudbury is an interesting fixture; Ipswich v Wrexham isn't.

Have they ever been regionalised? I don't remember that being the case but could be wrong.

They would've been my next guess - I assume Wimbledon doesn't count because it's technically not the same club?

Have they ever been regionalised? I don't remember that being the case but could be wrong.

The FA Cup 1st & 2nd rounds used to be divided between North & South, but this stopped after 1997-98. As well as creating more local interest, going back to that would also reduce travelling costs and the carbon footprint.
