I have a friend who is welsh (poor chap) but was lucky enough to at Croke Park that afternoon. He says the singing of the Irish anthems was spine tingling/chilling and out did anything he'd ever heard at Arms Park or the Millennium. Obviously he's never been to PR and heard the North Stand in full voice

I was there too ,and the complete silence for the British national anthem was even more chilling. Lots of emotion that day. John 'The Bull' Hayes got something in his eye during 'Amhrán na bhFiann'.

Nice one Joe said the reckoned England lost the game during the anthems, you could see the colour draining out of them If Ireland got involved in a world cup or euros bid could Croke park be used?
