The bravery of this man is unreal 15:07 - Nov 21 with 1115 viewsgtsb1966

I still can't quite get my head around how he made that decision to lock the doors. I would say that 99.9% of the population would have opened the door and ran. I know I would. Unbelievable.

Has it been released what made the driver realise what his passenger was about to do and therefore lock him inside the car? Is it just speculation at the moment or has it been officially confirmed?

Don't all taxis have the passenger doors child locked as a matter of course?

The aim being to stop passengers running off without paying.

So it is possible that the bomb went off while the passenger was trying to find payment?

I would have thought the driver would have got out and left him locked inside had he realised what was about to happen.

There seems a lot of speculation that doesn't add up to me at the moment. Of course, there may be explanations that are not immediately apparent.

None of this changes the facts that the driver was both unfortunate to be there and fortunate to have survived.

Last Sunday it was reported that he locked the man in on purpose.

If I was being really picky, I would say if you knew there was a threat in the back (and he came into the car park at speed) why would you drive to the door and not throw it into a distant corner of the car park?

Wouldn't that mean activating the central locking? Which doesn't stop a passenger getting out.

Since newspaper reports last weekend, there's been nothing about this aspect at all, and it's never been mentioned by the BBC.

I'm saying this was a detail made up by a tabloid journalist in the absence of proper verification.
