Lab 43%
Con 30%
Libdems 9%

Which would see the Tories lose 161 seats, and Labour in government with a 54 seat majority,

Far from any bounce back, it has been a steady decline - long may it continue.

I don't think anyone views this as any indication of how people will vote in the next election - a lot can happen before then. As we have seen over the past few months.

What this does point to is the idiocy of those bleating out that no one cares. The total indifference by fatso to the very rules he introduced, the drinking the .day before Prince Phillip's funeral and the constant denials have not played well.

It should be remembered what happened to the Libdems after promising to end student loans, then failing to do so when they were one half of the coalition. It was not that failure that hurt them, but the thought folk felt that they had been lied to - via a promise the Libdems could not keep.

And it is the constant lies that will do for Johnson, never mind sacking juniors for what he ultimately is responsible for - and only owning up AFTER it has been proven what happened. Lying to Parliament is not a good strategy either, especially when the idea was to 'get away with it'.

It should also be born in mind that the current polls are in line with the results of the 1997 Labour victory - a landslide. Something which will be focusing the minds of many a Tory MP, when the cause is down to one man

Agree with all of that. Can’t help but feel that this whole saga has come too early for the opposition though, I very much doubt the same PM will be in Downing Street come Easter.

Reading that is so depressing. The impression they have of Johnson now is who he is and always has been, they were duped by him over Brexit and they were duped into voting for him in 2019. This isn't out of character and telling us something we didn't know about him, this IS his character and is precisely what people were trying to warn them about years ago.

I also particularly enjoyed the comment about Johnson not being a typical Eton-educated Tory like Cameron.

Quite. It's incredible how these embodiments of privilege have managed to convince the working classes that they are their ally. A compliant media helps of course but it's still quite the trick to pull off.

There is the sad thought that Johnson plays lose with the Racism, and that is what appeals to a fair few. It is those at the bottom who feel most threatened by immigration, and so the use of piccaninnies and letter boxes suggest he sees it as they do.

Just as Trump has the same fears as the average hillbilly in the US .

Perhaps Prince Andrew should have told Emily Maitless that the housing shortage was caused by all the immigrants coming over here. People have nowhere to live.

Take a look at the zealotry of the anti-vaxxers if you want to see how easily people are fooled.
