Both made a few appearances in the premier league last year and then Harper made around 20 appearances in the championship for Birmingham.
So why isn’t it working here?
Harper: is he deemed not defensive enough to be a number 4 and not productive enough to be a number 10? Has the attributes to play an Evans/Number 8 role I’d have thought.
Edwards: Seems a bit clearer that he maybe doesn’t have the defensive discipline to play LWB. Would like to bring he can develop that though as those first few games he looked like a cut above this league (Cheltenham in particular)
Woukd be such a shame for them to both drift away. Both are at a perfect age to kick on and develop and potentially be valuable to us in the future. I |  | | |  |

I think it's a real shame we never saw Harper and Morsy together more. Again, it shows how mad the recruitment was that we don't have a natural replacement for Morsy, but have about 5 players who can play alongside him.
Personally, in the first couple of games, I don't really see what Bakinson gives us that Harper doesn't.
Edwards all season has struggled with any sort of final delivery or attacking output. And now in this formation you really can't see where he fits in. Presumably as a renegade no.10 or LWB, but is way down the pecking order in both. |  | | |

Harper wasn’t especially rated by Brum fans . Didn’t really cut it there either.
He made 11 appearances and a further 7 as sub .
He also only came as sub twice for WBA in the Prem, they lost 3-0 and 4-0 in those matches.
Has talent, but has to do the hard yards to make it.

The idea that Edwards doesn't defend is the laziest assumption I've seen on here. It's like no-one has watched him play, notably at Wycombe where he was excellent off the ball.
Both Harper and Edwards are technically good and seem to have good awareness off the ball, they've been in and out a mess of a team for the most part and both had covid in December. Suspect it is a lot easier to come in and paly in a team that's better organised that we were under Cook.
I think we'll see Edwards come back in for some games between now and the end of the season. |  |

Edwards’s problem is not defending, it is the final third. He has no final ball. He needs to work on his delivery and shooting abilities. If he can improve there he would be a quality player |  | | |
