I read this. Unspeakably awful. The evidence of what these animals are doing is looking pretty overwhelming to me, not that the Kremlin creature is interested. I suspect now that civilians are out of that steelworks in Mariupol the Russians might finish it with chemical weapons or worse. They are already clearing up their atrocities and replacing the signs there. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/07/ukrainians-take-dna-tests-identify Sadly, media interest in Ukraine is waning and with that will come waning political interest. From that will come a western willingness to accommodate Putin. I suspect particularly Germany cannot wait to get back to normal and get Nord2 going, after the money it cost.

Clearly not. I can't get my head round what he and his pals are hoping to gain from this whole ridiculous and unnecessary attack.

No, he’s not right in the head and neither are the animals that support him. It is interesting how desensitised people get. In normal times the bombing and death of 60 innocent people sheltering in a school would rate as an international outrage. However, Putin has unleashed such misery and death upon a people his country gave security assurances to in 1994, that 60 people barely rates a mention. As for shelling preventing any rescue it’s not news, it’s normal now. How sad. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/08/russian-airstrike-ukraine-school I think the countries that support Russia, especially India and China, need to have a good look in the mirror.
The 'special military operation' continues to reach new lows. on 12:57 - May 11 with 14223 views | Eireannach_gorm | Ivan, the apprentice soldier dies Ivan Dumanov, who lived in Nuuk, has been killed in Ukraine, where he was fighting the Russian invasion. He was killed on Wednesday, May 4th. It has his sharing reported to his parents. He turned 30 years old. This is stated by Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq in a press release. Ivan Dumanov fled to Denmark after the Russian invasion of the Crimean peninsula. When he was granted refugee status in 2019, he wanted to come to Greenland, and thus became the first and so far only refugee in Greenland. Ivan Dumanov had a degree in finance, and quickly got a job in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq's finance department. "Ivan was one of the most pleasant people I have worked with. He was teachable and well educated. He quickly learned to speak Danish, and he managed to learn a lot of Greenlandic", remembers his boss, Dorthea Olsen Rasmussen. Wanted to defend his homeland Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February. Since then, the conflict between the two countries has escalated. Ivan Dumanov chose to travel to Ukraine to help his family and defend his homeland in early March. Here he had asked for unpaid leave so he could travel and fight for his country, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq informs. "He loved Greenland and he loved nature. He had a small dinghy and he sailed a lot. He also loved our gatherings. Every time I talked to him while he was away, he told me how much he was looking forward to coming home to Greenland again", says Dorthea Olsen Rasmussen. Ivan Dumanov managed to fight in Ukraine for just under two months before dying on Wednesday, May 4th. He leaves a cohabiting girlfriend in Greenland. Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq flags at halfmast today to commemorate their deceased colleague. https://sermitsiaq.ag/node/237137 Ivan was not a soldier, his actual job was in finance. https://gl.linkedin.com/in/ivan-dumanov-9037b2a6/cs?trk=people-guest_people_sear | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If or when they take Odessa they will then have the whole coast. Moldova is a mere morsel to be swallowed as well. A sort of after eight mint after the main course. If Putin achieves this the rump of Ukraine will be absorbed sooner or later. It’s industrial area will be gone, access for agriproducts through the Black Sea gone. There will be nowhere for it to go. The idea of EU membership is just spin - the French are now talking decades. In other words, not going to happen. I guess after three months it’s a race between how much longer can Ukraine resist against the strongman’s might and how much economic and military hardware loss can Russia take. Economy wise, sanctions are offset by massive inflows of money for energy - particularly from the EU. One thing is for certain, lives to not matter to Putin. They never did. Poor people. They asked for none of this. Putin knows lives do matter to the west and that it’s divided. It’s also getting bored with it as demonstrated by how it has slipped down the news priorities. There is also a limit to the amount of military supplies and political will western countries will give to Ukraine so time is on Putin’s side. One thing that’s surprised me is that he’s not killed Zelenski. It would be my no 1 priority and can’t be that hard in a war torn country. [Post edited 11 May 2022 21:37]

Yes, other things are moving the Russian war to the inside pages. Squabbles are breaking out internally in countries and with each other and I suspect the support for Ukraine will dry up soon, unless something significant happens.

Hopefully with successes like this it will keep Ukraine's allies interested. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/14/ukraine-has-won-the-battle-of-khar

An awful story amongst so many awful stories. Poor people. Sadly, there are plenty of people that enjoy torture and killing and Putin’s ill disciplined rabble of an army seems to have more than their fair share. They seem to be building a well of hatred in the Ukrainians that may never go away. Pretty stupid really.

The 'special military operation' continues to reach new lows. on 08:39 - May 17 with 13480 views | Churchman | So the last defenders of Mariupol are surrendering. The city is finally taken. It’s a very important victory for Russia. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/17/russia-ukraine-war-what-we-know-on It means that they can hold a victory parade there, get the pro Russia vote done and absorb it into the New Soviet Union. For Ukraine, it’s defence was truly heroic and I hope those brave defenders are allowed to live by the Russians. Other good news for Putin is Turkey’s block of Finland and Sweden. It’s yet more hard evidence of splits and weakness in the west. He must be hopeful western response will run out of steam, especially if his army can break through in the Donbas area. This may well be helped by Putin’s stooges in Belorussia pinning part of the Ukrainian defence. I can see them wanting their share of the spoils if the Russian army does break the dogged Ukrainians. I thought Ukraine would last three days. They’ve done amazingly well. Russia have made such hard work of this and have left a legacy of hate that will cost them, even if they do take what they believe is theirs in the end.

The return of the Moskvitch and Lada. They’ll be queuing up for those. Actually, they’ll probably do a deal with best mates China and India to licence build their stuff. Plus France of course - they’ll find a way round sanctions to flog their rubbish, just like they did £150m of military stuff between 2014-2022. [Post edited 17 May 2022 10:10]
