Good point. Simpson is almost certain to be sold.

I forgot about Jackson also, whose contract had naturally run down anyway so he was just simply resigned, hardly a bank-breaking decision that either.

We currently just have 20 first-team players on the books, that has to be the fewest since the 90's surely? I remember one season with Mick (2016-17 I think) we used a record number of players, I want to say something silly like 50-60? Now that was insane given they were nearly all sh7t.

I really don’t know what the BC supporters’ problem is. Ashton is long gone and their two place improvement in the Championship to 17th is great for them.

Established Championship club after 7 years there, new ground, new facilities, the best manager in Pearson they’ll ever have, good attendances at 19k average, given in L1 it was 12k. Yet still their forum has a 40+ page hate thread on Ashton and ITFC mockery rumbles on. Oh well, it clearly makes them happy.

It is very weird isn't it?

They were lower league also-rans pre-Ashton.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Didn't they flirt with the play off positions for a little while? I remember some pretty tough battles against them in the early Evans years. They were also doing ok in the championship in the Lyall years. I remember visiting a couple of times at least. Probably got a little bit carried away.

Aston seems to have left them in a good place off the pitch. He did a damn site better than Evan's austerity approach letting us rot.

It's definitely an unhealthy obsession they have though. The Swans are the same down here with Hugh Jenkins. Some of our fans even are with Sheepy! Fans are a funny lot.

I was there when I think a certain Andy Cole scored for them in 92 when we were winning the division. I was also there in the late 70s when they were getting relegated from the old first division. Got rocks and stuff chucked at us following the FA Cup game the following week. They’ve had a few decent seasons, including last season, but they’re a bit ‘non’.

Surprising that Bristol doesn’t have a decent club. It’s a nice city. I guess having a strong rugby set up they don’t really do football. I’ve always thought Bristol City’s supporters odd, yet I’ve been to a few Bristol Rovers games over the years and their mob are great. Maybe the latter don’t have the sense of entitlement BC fans have. There’s certainly no ‘Premier League in waiting’ about Rovers. They’ve got a great kit too.
