Here's a hypothetical question for you... on 11:55 - May 24 by AJblue | late great Dalian Atkinson |
Can you imagine him against Division 3 players? Stewart would score plenty, as would peak Daryl Murphy, David Johnson II, Shefki Kuqi (in his original spell) and, as said above, Bent was quick and good in the air, as well as being a clinical finisher. But Dalian had even more than any of them. Anyone who can score the top division goal of the season by running half the length of the pitch, and leaving most of the opposition on their asses, would do just fine against mistake-prone 3rd Division defenders. Power, pace, strength, balance- he was a complete striker.
Here's a hypothetical question for you... on 02:59 - May 25 with 429 views | BigCommon | If we're playing a bit deeper against decent sides, then pace merchants like D Bent or Johnson... Plan B, Shefki or Alan Lee and chuck it in there... For those games when we are camped on the edge of their box, Pablo..... Chuck another name in the hat, not an out and out striker, but a clever forward, imo, and might link things up in the current format, Tamas Priskin..... I'm surprised we haven't given Chappers the odd game on point, especially when we were struggling for goals. Some of his finishes were pretty decent, amongst his goals last season. And his work rate/pressing is a nightmare for defenders. And he's not the slowest, either. Just my op'..
Here's a hypothetical question for you... on 05:00 - May 25 with 418 views | IPS_wich | Marcus Bent - OK with the physical side of things, bit of pace and a great eye for goal. His problem was only bringing it for every third game - but with McKenna as coach I reckon he could get Bent Snr up and about more regularly. His performance against Sheff Utd in the come back from 2-0 down with 10 men game is still perhaps the best centre forward performance I've seen from a Town player since we were relegated from the Premier League.
