Need a big innings from Root on 13:28 - Jun 5 with 463 views | IpswichKnight | Great win but let’s not disguise the fact that we still have huge issues with the bat. The top 3 is a problem and we can’t go into a test with 4 number 11’s again. Not sure we can fix the tail as Overton isn’t much of a bat and Leach is another number 11. Who if anyone does Overton replace and do we go with a spinner ( yes Trent Bridge is normally flat ), don’t expect any replacements unless Leach fails a concussion test.
Need a big innings from Root on 13:40 - Jun 5 with 444 views | Churchman | It was a tremendous effort from Root with good contributions from Stokes and Foakes. The worries about the team’s yawning shortcomings are for another day. Well done to them for the win. Enjoy!

Well done Root on 10,000 runs, joint highest number of home test centuries for England and to him and Stokes on winning Stokes' first test. Rode our luck at times and our batting fragility is starkly obvious still. However, Anderson and Broad still performing and it is always better to be lucky than to be good (coupled with you make your own luck). Stokes played himself in and then scored at a rate that meant the second new ball wasn't going to come soon enough for New Zealand.
