Saw on fb the other day, a U.S. bloke on holiday in England who rented a 2021 Vauxhall Corsa (diesel) and was getting an average mileage of over 62 miles to the gallon? That seems amazing but I admit I know nothing about diesel and how it compares to petrol for efficiency.
Wondering generally how efficient UK cars. I have a small Chevy SUV which gets about 25 miles to the gallon for motorway driving. A friend with a big Ford truck gets about 12 miles to the gallon for his mostly driving around town.

The misses’ 3 year old Toyota Yaris (great car) does 55+ mixed driving.
My equally boring Honda Civic (not one hint of a problem in 8+ years), 1.8 turbocharged jobbie - it’s not an R Type butt clencher, but swift enough will do 40 with my rubbish driving and 45 in poverty economy mode.

At the 1981 Marlboro Clubmans Championship at Silverstone, I put 3 gallons into my TZ350 for an 8 lap race on the old 2.97 mile circuit (plus one warm-up lap). It ran out shorty after crossing the finish. So about 9 mpg. |  |

Is that all? I had similar efficiency from a Toyota pious, which was made nearly 20 years ago. Hopefully your Ioniq gets better performance in other areas.
We switched to a diesel powered 4x4 suv after being stranded in the snow. We’ve not seen similar extreme weather, nor have we been far off the beaten track, but I get 45mpg average with 55-60mpg easily achievable in the right conditions. Love my Yeti. |  | | |
