Bolton- As tough a start as you can get ? 13:25 - Jul 26 with 1369 viewsTRUE_BLUE123

Team who finished last season very strongly. Kept that side together, with very few additions. Iredale a solid signing from Cambridge and Connor Bradley on loan from Liverpool. Did the double on us last season. Most think they will be up there this year. Tough first game.

That being said. I'm feeling good. We normally do alright first game of the season, I was encouraged by what i saw second half at Millwall. We were very close to being a very good team last season, just struggled to put the thing in the net. We also got battered in midfield last season by Bolton, we had Harper and Evans, they had Sheehan and Williams. Morsy and Ball should help that.

Should be a great game. Bring it on.

I think it is a great team to start against.

The first game last season was characterised by hideous defensive snarl ups and a really nice couple of goals from Fraser and Bonne - but in the end it was completely typical of what we got used to from the likes of Morecambe.

Bolton will not come to try and grab a point, and I think that gives us a huge opportunity to find space and play our game at our tempo, and use our pace. They will definitely be dangerous, but so long as we can keep the error count low, I think we could see a really attractive game. It cant come soon enough!

On another point, I see we have 8 games (assuming we win against Col U in the Carabao Cup) before the end of August - that is a heavy start - bench and squad depth will be critical I would suggest.

Agree, a tough first game but one that we should win.

The Millwall second half performance against a tough opponent should give the Boys lots of confidence going into the game.

Yes, Bolton are probably one of the 7-8 more challenging opponents to start with but with our squad, Summer progress/additions, momentum building as well as being buoyed on by the a large, excitable crowd, 3 points, I believe will be ours....

'Captain Obvious' statement but a win is so important to build confidence and positivity for the games that follow. As others have stated numerous times already, a flying start to the season is vital and sets the tone for what follows...

Agree with all of that.

Should be a great contest.

Much rather that than last season when we had a newly promoted side, who were probably still on a bit of a high after promotion. They’re a known quantity and frankly we owe them one after last season.

Tough game but bring it on
