I shat myself a few hours ago. Metaphorically. I was reading your enlightening and erudite missives when I heard a crashing sound from the kitchen so elongated and cacophonous that I thought the ceiling had caved in or a bus had gone through the wall. Which would've been an achievement on the 1st floor.

A kitchen cabinet (already here when we moved in, so I can't be blamed) full of cups and glasses, decided enough was enough and separated itself from the wall. To add to the carnage it landed on our two-tier, and fully full, dishrack. Absolutely terrifying, and it took me an hour to clean up the broken class and porcelain.

All our plates and wine glasses are gone. When Lady Dollers gets home she'll be eating off the breadboard, and myself out of a frying pan.

Interesting to note that my ITFC mug sat resplendent amidst the carnage, untouched. Like a beacon of hope in a war zone. I like to think it's a metaphor for McKenna's unbeaten, unshakeable, blues.

I'm not sure Lady Dollers will see it that way.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Yeah I think ceramic is the word I was looking for. Forgive me, I'm traumatised (genuinely, I was shaking for a bit!)

"China" is fine as a collective noun.

Tableware

Crockery

Food custodian

Would all be acceptable in the parallel Universe where Phil runs a Gastronomy website and forum called Those Were The Dishes.

Fair enough. I also imagine you didn't have half a dozen goths in underpants running around panicked in your kitchen.

I forgot to mention this was a boat trip arranged by some goth friends, and when one of the goths pulled out I was invited to make up the numbers.

It was like a scene out of a really bad The Cure video.

Goths you say, running around a kitchen?

Are you sure it wasn't just three imaginary boys?

Oh there's some pretty dodgy carpentry around that neck of the woods, that's certain.

There were rawl plugs in, but I think the shaking of the washing machine loosened it. Probably wasn't put up very well either.

Has the missus mentioned anything about a new kitchen prior to this by any chance?

I'm not suggesting sabotage as such but have you considered it as a possibility?

Ha! We had considered it, but too expensive right now.

Hmmmmm....I'd be checking her Google history, and how long since that IKEA catalogue appeared on the living room table?
