The inability to sign a decent striker will cost us over the course... 14:34 - Sep 25 with 2272 viewsITFCBlues

Of the season I feel.

Ladapo was OK today, finally got his goal, could've had a hat trick. But we just don't have the quality in and around the box to finish chances.

I can't for the life of me think that Ahadme would've been on any lists in the summer. We've taken a punt on him. He maybe OK but we needed a proven goalscorer and it's dissapointing considering we've supposidly got cash to spend, but we just didn't do it.

Whilst I fully agree re the striker situation. We don’t have a number 9 capable of scoring a goal every other game. I would also suggest we are weak amongst our CB’s. I’m not talking about our defensive game as a team, but our individual centre backs.

Neither Woolfie / Edmundson command the box (at either end of the pitch). They rarely win the full on battle with big aggressive forwards, and never get on the end of the ball during our attacking corners. Both have a mistake in their game, almost every game, that usually ends up with our opponents scoring a goal. This is not a knee jerk reaction by either before people come down on my opinion. I was saying the same thing last season. We need better CB’ s and a better striker I’m afraid, if we are serious about promotion.

Doesn't really matter what we think. If Gamechanger can afford a young striker and he gets us promoted his value may double or triple in a couple of years. These guys mean business I think it's just a case of how well we're doing by mid January.

I agree not what we think, but it appears those who made the decision in the summer felt that way. It will cost more in January for sure. However, if they can get the right player in, their value will rise.

We've scored nineteen goals this season, which is second only to Sheffield Wednesday (20), albeit level with Portsmouth who have a game in hand. Scoring doesn't appear to the problem - it's keeping clean sheets. One against Bolton and two each against Barnsley, Wednesday and Plymouth. Nowhere near good enough.

And yet we have the highest number of clean sheets in the division. We are scoring goals but if we were clinical we'd have a lot more, we do create a lot of chances every week which is great but our man up top is neither clinical or getting in the right positions. Someone last week said he's intentionally taking up the wrong position to create space for others, rubbish, he just doesn't have the brain of a goalscorer.

It would be interesting to see our chances to goals ratio for each player. In the case of Ladapo, he scored after three really good chances, and only via a deflection. In the Papa John's last week he had even more chances before the goal at the end. We have at least three number 9s (not counting Jackson) but we still lack that striker with the killer touch, most of our goals come from elsewhere. Today we got into some great positions but the crosses seemed to go too far in front (or players weren't quick enough to anticipate) or just behind - even Harness's chance was not quite on the money.

I'd agree with you last year but I would say Woolfenden has taken a step forward with dealing with aggressive strikers this season - he did a very good job with Smith last week until we beggared about with the back line to bring on a further centre back.

Edmundson is a shadow of who he once was but I think the injury coupled with being played on the left isn't helping him.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?
