Indeed. He’s a great summariser but his voice is a little boring and quite monotone so I wonder if maybe he just wasn’t able to inspire the players. Fantastic captain, but in that role he was the managers spokesman on the pitch - so it wasn’t all on his shoulders.

I wonder if he'd have been better suited to managing now, rather than back in the 80s when managers were basically expected to rant and rave.
