2% pay freeze for public sector 11:24 - Nov 1 with 2850 views | LeoMuff | Being reported by daily mail today, if so I would imagine the NHS as we know it is done for, this will be unacceptable to the majority of workers.

2% pay freeze for public sector on 16:10 - Nov 1 by DerryfromBury | The alternative is big hike in all taxes. People need to realise, you can't have good public services without paying for them. The government doesn't have its own money tree, every penny spent comes from taxes collected from the likes of me and you. |
We are in the mess we are in because of 12 years of Tory government. The Tories chose austerity when they could have allowed borrowing to rise when interest rates were at very low rates. This would have more than paid for itself with greater growth, without the need for any more tax rises than were put in place at the time. The result when it comes to the NHS and social care is 7 million on the waiting list, 130,000 vacancies in the NHS and 170,000 vacancies in social care. And with further pay restraint vacancies are only likely to rise. Contrast the situation in Germany where my brother-in-law is able to choose the date and location of his hip operation. And Germany has gone through the same financial crisis, pandemic and cost of living crisis as us. [Post edited 1 Nov 2022 18:12]

Austerity is still a political choice even now.

2% pay freeze for public sector on 13:58 - Nov 1 by KernowBluey | As a worker for the NHS (been a front line cleaner for covid wards for almost 3 years), I've spoken to multiple nurses, doctors, HCAs, senior sisters and consultants, and we're all saying the same thing.... We're all voting for national strikes. Pay is a bloody joke, we're being run off our feet, and the government arnt exactly helping either! |
A day of strike action will ultimately pose less risk to our patients than a decade of Tory rule.
