70s and 80s lost football songs 13:07 - Nov 6 with 14012 viewsPendejo

Whilst I like the creativity of new songs, I don't go t enough game to learn the words. I had mastered the Anglian / Anarchy song and it disappeared!

Lost from the repertoire...

YNWA - Yes we used to sing it, and not just the chorus
Singing the Blues
You are my Ipswich (sunshine)
Ipswich repeated to tune of Amazing Grave
Que sera sera
We're on the march with Bobby's army (Scotland WC song 78)
We are the Ipswich the greatest Ipswich (Nut Rocket - B Bumble and the Stingers)

Thru to
Here we go (another Scotland WC song? 86?)
You'll never make station
You're gonna get your feckin heads kicked in
Ipswich aggro

London clubs never seen to sing "Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner" any more

In your (insert name of opposition) slums

Too young for "Keep right into end of the road"

Any I've missed, good or bad?

“From the banks of the river ooorwell
To the shores of Sicily
We will fight, fight, fight for Iiiipswich
‘Till we win the Football League.
To hell with Liverpool
To hell with Man City
We will fight, fight, fight
for Iiiipswich,
‘Till we win the Football League”

“His eyes they shine like diamonds,
They call him the King of the Land.
Snd there stood Keeevin Beattie,
Born with the Cup in his hands!”

“She’s a sh1tbag, ratbag,
F****ckin ole horebag,
That’s my mother-in-law.
She wants shooting,
F***ing executing,
Hanging on the sh1 thouse door”

Just three I can remember being being belted out by the then North Stand .

I really loved the first of them which must go back to the late 60s.

Also, a favourite from that era was "Bring on Sunderland and Arsenal, bring on Spaniards by the score...."

I also think "Keep Right on to the end of the road" was sung, even though it was a Birmingham City.

To be honest I think songs were much better in the 60s and 70s than now. There was much more variety and they weren't the dirges that some of our songs these day are.

That songs" Tiptoe through the North Stand"

It's doing my head in that I can't remember it in full....I know it had something to do with the Barclay Stand.

Anyone help?

Was it something like

Tip toe through the Barclay
With a razor and a sawn off shotgun
Tip toe through the Barclay with me

Kevin Beattie Walks on Water
La-la-la-la-lah, la-la-la-la

and from a few years earlier

We've got Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Robertson
On the wing, on the wing

“You’re going home in an Ipswich ambulance”

“Rather shag a sheep than a Watford prostitute” (this may have been sung at other clubs too but Watford is the one I recall in response to sheep shagger songs)

West Ham to Ipswich at tube station 'you're going home in a combine harvester'
