for the earlier kick off vs Peterborough. It used to be about £72 from Cheltenham for me and the boy which made it about the same as the cost of petrol to do the trip.
Its gone up to £105 for the two of us, (he's 15). And thats WITH a Friends and Family rail card.
Thought it could be because we're relatively close to the date, so checked the price of travel to the Accrington game at the end of January. Nope, still £105. |  |

Trains in this country are way too expensive - they are a complete joke.
One way to get people out of their cars and onto public transport is to make trains a lot lot cheaper and to make them run regularly. Other countries manage it so why not here.
I used to criticise Callis for advocating train dodging but not anymore. They are just ridiculously over expensive even through they should be considered essential and subsidised heavily by government. |
How would train operators control the price of tickets to an affordable range?
I probably not the brightest tool in the shed but if they took control the prices would still expensive due to inflation. |  |

The first part is true, but it’s not a problem on this route as so many trains stop at Manningtree. The second part is only true if you use their booking service - you can just take the results they give you and book the trains yourself on any other website. |
Oh, I know about the Manningtree trick, and have used it many times before. I was just raising the point for those that have done nothing similar before, and are perhaps coming from further afield. |  | | |
