How much of people's apathy to the World Cup.... 08:45 - Nov 21 with 3178 views | itfcjoe | ...is to do with it being in the winter opposed to being in Qatar? Hard to tell really, but I can't imagine feeling this unbothered for an opening WC game if it was a glorious June day with the promise of a few beers with mates. It might be that I am exceedingly unpopular now, but have had no-one message to see where watching the game etc; I'll either just watch it with my Dad or head own and hope wife and youngest are there for some company to watch it there before taking my eldest to his swimming lesson at 4:30. Dull, dull, dull - I'm sure it will pick up as we progress - but I'm thinking more about the Papa Johns game vs Pompey tomorrow currently!

How much of people's apathy to the World Cup.... on 12:02 - Nov 21 with 326 views | GlasgowBlue | Yeah. Winter and our ongoing season is affecting my enthusiasm for it. I'd normally have the bunting out in the back garden. The WC would also coincide with being in holiday so I'd be in a bar in a pair of shorts watching the matches. This simply doesn't feel right. For those not watching because of Qatar's appalling record on human rights, especialy LGBTQ, I don't recall the same stance when it was held in Russia 4 years ago. https://www.petertatchellfoundation.org/love-russia-hate-homophobia/?gclid=Cj0KC And people are still happy to promote Qatari state owned propaganda media on here. So there is a whiff of hypocrisy.

I think the discussion around Russia at the time was focused more on their invasion of Crimea, and whether it remained appropriate to host the tournament. Hindsight would suggest not!
How much of people's apathy to the World Cup.... on 13:20 - Nov 21 with 256 views | cbower | The fact I am reading and replying to this post 13 mins into the first England game says it all. Just feel a bit meh about it all. I agree with all the moral objections to where it is taking place but the mistakes were made 12 years ago and we all know why. The major footballing nations of the world should have withdrawn long ago if they felt so strongly (and rightly so imho) but in participating they give tacit legitimacy to FIFAs whole operation. I guess, however,in watching I am equally culpable too!
