Safe Standing 08:48 - Nov 24 with 1230 viewsgeg1992

Hi all,

There's a good chance I've missed it, but I haven't seen anything about plans for safe standing in North Lower moving forward. Is this something that has been discussed in the club does anyone know? I though this may be a priority as it will increase the capacity slightly and help to improve the atmosphere. I assume the cost is also not a huge issue as teams like Lincoln are doing it. Some reports say it allows up to 80% increase in capacity although that seems a bit high.

Isn't part of the problem that you have to provide it for Away fans if you are providing it for Home fans?

Pretty sure Ashton has said in a Fan Forum that it's not a high priority at the minute.

He mentioned on the KOA interview, both working out best place for away fans and possibility of safe standing. Not sure it sounded imminent but definitely in plans. He also said he couldn’t say what capacity currently was - down to away end but will increase as we’re opening block (E? I think) up.
He used the word egress a lot.

Interesting, didn't realise that! Does Shrewsbury have it for away fans too? I though it was all seating.

Thanks! Good to know it's in the plans.

There's a difference between old standing terraces (which were allowed to remain for promoted teams from Leagues where they were permitted) and Safe Standing where you have an allocated spot to stand. I think that's where you still get grounds like Shrewsbury that have an old school mix.

Posh upgraded a standing terrace to Safe Standing. I think the Away fans rule comes in if you want to go from all seated to have Safe Standing areas.

No they don't.

They have safe standing for home fans, and normal seating for away fans. No old-style standing terracing.

Any truth in the rumour that the club will move the shop to the far corner where Staples is now. Could then put more fans in the corner of the North.
