Some great stuff in all the groups, it was like basketball at the end of Uruguay/Ghana.
However, can't help thinking this has been mostly generated by teams resting their players. Not to take anything away from the winners but I can't see France, Spain and Portugal all losing their last game if it were a knockout fixture.
I don't have a solution to this, managers know rest is vital nowadays and I don't see a better tournament format, but a bit like DRS in F1, the drama is a little articifially generated. |  |
