Are those underlying stats any worse than they were for them last season? They maintained form until very near the end of the season and were desperately unfortunate for their points tally to not even make the play-offs. They have ridden out an injury crisis too.
If they lose their loanees and cannot replace them, fair enough, but I see the idea that their foundation is not strong enough as similar to the idea that Wycombe's wasn't. They have a well-managed team that is performing above the sum of its parts.
Time will tell.
They dropped well off the automatic pace last season. After 17 games they were top with 36 points. After 28 games (31st January) they were 6th with 47 points (8 points off 2nd). Picked up 11 points in 11 games.
