Added to the sanitised version of the Empire: many still hang onto this as the country that we actually still should be, in some ways. Again, conveniently forgetting that we pillaged countless countries, forbid those countries from trading with anyone else, got very, very rich off the back of those countries, then as we became ever more fvcked as a nation, then bankrupt after the war, we bvggered off and left many places in a state of chaos, with ramifications still bouncing around to this day. What a country.
