Slightly concerned about his last six months, although sounds like he made a bad choice or two in the summer window as much as anything. Be interesting to know why he didn't get any kind of look-in at Boro — again may well be just confluence of being a panic signing & the change of manager, but if fit you'd think he'd at least have had a few minutes off the bench here and there.

Main thing: can we get him up to speed to be genuine, match-starting competition for us, because we need that almost immediately and it's been a long time for him. If we can then obviously there's a heck of a player for this level and he'll really galvanise our options in there, could be a tremendous addition. Be good to give him half an hour against Rotherham if it gets done in time.

I’d say if we’re signing him after having a look at him in training the he must be fit, or nearly there, staff must’ve watched him and monitored him and are happy enough.

Yep, definitely have to trust the pros rather than our usually ill-founded/ignorant concerns. Just hope we can get him very swiftly to last season's level, not been ideal at his stage of career to go so long without playing.
