There's a film out at the moment called 'Till" about the mother of a murdered black kid in 50s America.
Prompted me to read up on his murder. Perhaps the most shocking thing is that after the murderers were found innocent, they admitted they had done it. They couldn't be tried twice, indeed otherwise I doubt they'd have admitted it.
Guess my point is, as vile as the attack is, we have come so far in a short period of time. 70 years ago, you could kill a black kid, get away with it, even brag about it and hey ho...
And I guess those attitudes in the 50s linger and don't stop just because of civil rights laws. Talk to some old people in the UK and anti-german feelings have been passed down from parents/grand parents. Same in parts of the Unitee States I guess.
