Is it ok to feel disappointed about our form? 20:35 - Feb 16 with 2847 views3_5_2

It’s just that I’ve seen quite a lot of people on various platforms saying we shouldn’t be unhappy about seemingly throwing our good league position away.

It seems we are now hoping for a play off spot, where by some miracle we will beat teams from the top 6, which we have failed to do so far this season.

I’ve even seen someone suggest that after 11th and 9th then 11th, anything above that is progress.

I guess technically finishing 8th is “progress” but just a small part of me thinks we should be doing a a tad better, given the money we have spent etc.

But at least the tannoy system is a bit better now

In the form table Town are 13th. THIRTEENTH.

Definitely disappointing.

Is this is it now? Time to give up hope and brace for playoff heartbreak? Not really, there's still time to rediscover our mojo.

I've been here enough times though to know to prepare for the worst.
Memories of being top of the Championship around Christmas 2004 only to finish third and lose to West Ham in the playoffs are feeling painfully relevant.

This isn't true.

OK to be disappointed, of course, we all are. OK to make stuff up to put an overly negative spin on things? Meh. Not what I'd do but you go for it. As it stands the play off places are taken by us, Barnsley, Bolton and Derby. We haven't lost a game to any of these teams but we need a 'miracle'? Our form has dropped off, especially away from home, but we're not done yet. Of course, things need to improve, we can all see that.

You must accept whatever is served up, otherwise you will get the usual few calling you “entitled” etc etc.

Whilst our form has dropped off, I don't think we were ever ready to put together a 100 point season which is what looks like it'll be needed to have kept pace with Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth.

Our last 5 home games in the league have seen wins over Posh, Oxford, Morecambe plus draws with the 2 best sides in this league in Sheff Weds and Plymouth.

Our home run in is very sift, we can prob pick up enough points needed for the POs just at Portman Road between now and May, but you'd assume that momentum should help tip our away form round.

Then people say we can't beat anyone in the top 6.....bar Plymouth at Home Park, nearly every game between us Wednesday, Derby, Plymouth, Barnsley, Bolton is a draw. No one is beating anyone in that mini league.

We’ve beaten you, Wednesday, Barnsley and Bolton at home.

Derby have yet to have the pleasure of playing at HP this season.

The difference between last season and this season for us is that we only picked up 6 points against the top 6 last season.

Absolutely.

Seems that we’ve gone from odds-on favourites to go up automatically to little more than a 1 in 4 shot at the playoffs. And within just 4 or 5 weeks so a fairly abrupt feeling of failure and reality hitting.

Still time to turn it around, either to reel in one of the top 2 if they falter or at least to go into the playoffs with some momentum.

But feels like a bit of a sliding doors moment for the club if we don’t capitalise this season. Not saying Gamechanger could or would try to leave the club but I’d imagine they’ll be under pressure to change things to keep investors happy. Paying way over the odds for a third season in League One was never part of the pitch, I’m guessing.
