I don't know the circumstances leading up to the announcement of them being on the run from the car, but it does appear like a failing of our far-too-over-stretched social services. That said, until the baby was born, their hands were probably very much tied. |  |

They can't really do anything other than assess and plan until the baby is born and even then it's a police matter if the parents try and do a runner. | |

I am not sure I phrased that very well. I don't mean it as blaming them but rather that their powers are not sufficient to prevent it. Perhaps a limitation would be a better word to use. | |
