It would be like being in the EU all over again when freedom of movement meant we got swamped by all those Turkish immigrant who stole all our jobs.
The following words of Braverman seem to have been rather overshadowed by the Gary Lineker furore, although they justify what he said.
"There are 100 million people around the world who could qualify for protection under our current laws. Let’s be clear. They are coming here."
As you suggest, the idea of many people coming to this country (and many Muslims at that) appears to be a repeat of the false fears which both leave campaigns played on during the EU referendum.
Indeed, I believe that Michael Gove admitted after the Brexit vote that Vote Leave was wrong to have done what it did. And George Osborne said that the Breaking Point poster was like 1930s fascist propaganda. So why is Gary Lineker being especially condemned for making a similar claim?
