If looking at broad continental brushes (or major haplogroups) then possibly. But the genetic distinction between "Saxon". "Angle", "Viking" and even, to an extent, "Celt" is very blurry, especially when talking about base populations - which themselves are often a mix. These are often cultural and regional labels more than genetic. The ones I find most interesting are those which can be matched against tests taken by others in order to find unknown and more distant familial relationships (or to get you convicted for unresolved crimes).

Turns out I have more than a thimbleful of Scottish DNA (well my sister does) I am clinging to the hope she was secretly adopted.

I found out my grandfather had been quite a naughty boy and had two kids out of marriage. Two different people had managed to track down his set of brothers as one of the potential fathers but needed me it seems to be the "missing link". It did feel quite nice that I solved a question for two people about their biological father.

We Scots get about! Interestingly, a friend of mine whose wife is from Brittany has found out that her ancient ancestry is 30% Irish and 70% Scottish, but perhaps that's to be expected given the ancient links along the Atlantic side of northern Europe.

I suppose the captives and galley rowers, prisoners, convicts, banished and unwanted that survived had to settle somewhere 😃🤣😂🥲😅. Only joking! On a serious note, I find this stuff fascinating. A good friend of mine is partly Sri Lankan, Indian, French, Indonesian, English. All from what she was told by family. She’s not really interested in her heritage, but I am. What a back story she must have. I love assumptions. My dad loved oxtail soup. A good old fashioned English dish. He refused to believe it when I told him it was invented by Huguenot refugees in the Spitalfields area in the 17c to make use of the cheapest ingredients.
