Question for anyone using a fire stick 18:22 - Jun 25 with 2522 viewsLegendofthePhoenix

I've just returned home from a trip to Suffolk to see my 86 year old Dad. He can't get out much, and although I had set him up with a Season pass for iFollow, he was getting very confused every time there was an update and hardly got to watch any Town matches. A normal TV is about all he can manage. Any help with the queries below would be much appreciated.
Question 1 : can you use a Firestick to get Sky Sports channels through Now TV? Does it work, or are only certain Sky Sports channels available.
Question 2: can you use a Fire Stick to watch things like iFollow (or ITFC TV) that are broadcast over the web?
Question 3: How easy is it, i.e. do they do updates from time to time and it won't work unless you follow the update instructions? Or do you have to enter login details each time?
Question 4: Does a firestick offer any advantages over just subscribing to Now TV via your normal TV?
Thanks in advance.

Question 1 yes there is a NowTV app for firestick which includes all of the sky sports channels if you have the nowtv sports subscription (also red button sky games midweek)
Question 2: you can but you need to login via a web browser (eg Silk) - there used to be an app but on the firestick for iFollow but not anymore
Question 3: You could stay logged in on the web browser I guess. As for NowTv when it updates you should still stay signed in
Question 4: only that you can use other apps that aren't available via smart tv

As I’m not in the UK question 2 is the only one I can advise on potentially, he will not be able to watch ifollow going forward as ITFC are starting their own streaming service next season.
I’m guessing but fairly sure due to EFL Saturday 3.00 KO rules do not permit any live broadcasts in the UK ifollow or otherwise, the caveat to that is, it is streamed but only to overseas customers & hence I get it on my smart tv’s browser even though I use a Firestick for most other stuff.
Now, there is a number of fans in the UK who use a VPN (virtual private network) to “mask” their location & hence stream the same service.
As far as your Dads concerned seems like a non starter to me, my missus has difficulty getting it to work if I’m at FPR it is not as straightforward as it might first appear.
Best of luck.

I did similar for my Mum for a History Hit subscription. Logged her in on the browser on her TV and then just left it like that, she can cope with swapping between Sky, Prime etc and just put the browser as a shortcut so it was just like an additional one of those. Worked well with that.

Guess the question is what will happen with Town TV to know whether it will work with that.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Thanks all. I set him up last year with a saturday trip to Iceland, and the iFollow season pass, but he got terribly confused using a pc/ipad.
I think the Firestick sounds like the best bet to watch games that are shown on Sky - hopefully he will get to see a few games, the main thing is that it is easy to use. BBC Radio Suffolk for the other games.
Thanks again.
