A proper alternative to red and blue Tories in the North East....at last. 20:15 - Jul 17 with 4860 views | BanksterDebtSlave | https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jul/17/jamie-driscoll-resigns-labour-b "Driscoll’s case has drawn backing from other Labour mayors, Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram, who accused the party of being undemocratic, opaque and unfair. Their intervention came after the trade union Unite said Labour’s national executive committee had made a “major error” in blocking Driscoll’s candidacy, which it said was motivated by his support for the renationalisation of utilities." A proper alternative to red and blue Tories in the North East....at last. on 10:54 - Jul 18 by lowhouseblue | the thing about the uk, and i know this goes counter to your constant message of doom and disaster, is that there isn't enough of the poor and helpless for them to elect a government by themselves. to have any change they need to form an alliance with the 'doing ok' and the 'moderately prosperous' who make up the sizeable majority of the uk population. until you grasp that basic economic reality you won't understand politics. |
Does the "doing OK" include the many with student debt, stagnating wages, high housing costs, little in the way of pensions and the prospect of working until they drop? Given it is said that many people these days will end up poorer than their parents, I think many more people than you suggest have an interest in changing things. But of course, many people are effectively tricked into voting for something that is not really in their long term interests. [Post edited 18 Jul 2023 15:00]

I think lowhouse is still stuck in New Labour surfing the global economic upswing. That ship has sailed. And sunk. | |
