Hope we can bring in one or two before weekend 05:57 - Aug 8 with 5756 viewschenners17

Would be good to go into the first home match with a strengthened squad.

It’s been over two weeks since Hutchinson came in. We are due one…..

Hey there Sprucey

Morning Naylor. Max Aarons off to Leeds on a permanent deal. Selling your best player to what would have been, in recent years, a divisional rival. They won't be this year, they'll be at least ten places ahead of you, like we will. Gutted.

Already Wednesday and nothing rumoured, so it doesn't feel like anything is happening imminently enough for Saturday involvement.

Ever thought of supporting Oil State FC or Putin’s Former Laundry Club? Or one of those Saudi money dopers?

Once upon a time Town supporters used to identify with players who actually stayed with the club - and progressed, given half a chance and a manager who believed in them and became quite good. Rather than crave a revolving door of mercenaries.

I assume that you are referring back to the golden age of the minimum wage, that was what kept players at one or two clubs during their career.

Stanley Matthews could have played for any club in the country but he chose to play for his hometown club Stoke, and Blackpool where he had property, rather than move to one of the bigger clubs because they could not pay any more.

Similarly one of those big Preston legends from the middle of last century, possibly Tom Finney, said in an interview that that was the reason he remained at PNE his entire career, no more money on offer due to the maximum wage so why move, and if he had been able to get more money elsewhere he would.

If you want to prevent the 'revolving door of mercenaries' that's what it will take, restricting player wages. I don't want that, there's big money in the game and it's the players who most deserver to see it

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

Who has ever said that McNally was a done deal anyhow ? Is that just more idle speculation ?
