Reported on Soccer Special just now. Reported to be out for eight weeks so could be the similar for Walton?

Haven't heard of this injury before; now two in quick succession.

My brother's a physio and apparently it's not uncommon. He tends to see it in patients who have been wearing flip flops over the summer and then change their footwear/activity levels. That may not be why it's happened here but apparently it's often a contributing factor.


It’s weird you say that, some years back I spent 7/8 weeks in Oz, flip flops every day… came back and couldn’t even get boot on when turning out for the mighty Achilles Reserves… was out for weeks with it. Didn’t know that was the name of it however!

In all the years I’ve worked in the NHS and privately, I’ve never heard of or seen this injury. It’s a new one in me….


Beckham made the metatarsal popular. I don't think we'd heard much of it before then.
