It was simply a case of the XI we put out not being as good as Fulham, not really any more to it than that.

The Fulham players and Silva had something of the swan about them last night, nothing to do with a Welsh team, what I mean is that they appeared mainly unruffled but their brains were probably working away furiously (in the way that we see swans gliding on the surface of the water without always registering that their legs are paddling away nineteen to the dozen under the surface) as they figured out how to nullify us. I wondered whether McKenna was going to introduce Luongo late on but I guess he decided that at three goals down Hirst was as much as he was prepared to risk when it came to League starters for Saturday. And that may have been down to protecting the Ladapo back up option as much as anything. |  |
